It’s hard enough to get your work out there for people to read, drowned in a sea of short story competitions, literary magazines, and local writing prizes. And let’s face it, it feels even harder when you enjoy writing to genre.

Claws Out is an independent, writer-led, online literary magazine that specialises in all things fantasy, sci-fi and horror. We are based in Australia and our plan is to release quarterly issues featuring your great stories!

Our dream is to create a space for fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and other genre fiction that can sometimes slip through the gaps of other competitions and magazines around Australia, who choose to focus only on literary fiction.

Our mission is to help upcoming and established writers get their work published, and to help create a higher demand for fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and any other genres that struggle to find a home in the Australian writing scene.
